"d-SY Grid SIG to Survive"
By now you should have seen the announcement David Kay made on Friday with respect to the end of the present funding for d-SY from Yorkshire Forward and Objective 1. As David indicates, with no immediate follow-on funding, there is little option but to terminate the employment of the d-SY staff, namely, Mark Sanderson, Lee England and Sara Marriott and generally scale back operations until we have a clear way forward.
Like you, I look forward to learning more at the Associates meeting on 28th April. But in the meantime, I’d personally like to thank Mark, Lee and Sara for all of their efforts in making d-SY the success it has been and in particular, for their tireless efforts in supporting our SIG activities. Many of you will have met them at our events and I’m sure you would join me in wishing them the very best for the future.
In spite of the challenges we face, many of us involved in the d-SY SIGs have every intention of continuing the SIG activity. Given the technical focus of the SIG and the networking opportunities it provides, simply disbanding at the first sign of adversity is not an option. So, keep tuned over the next few weeks as we plan the next 12 months.
