The @home SIG focuses on technologies pertinent to realising the vision of the 21st century digital home. It is therefore a cross-cutting theme, drawing on elements of ambient computing, electronic identification (e.g. RFID, smartcard), embedded systems, environmental sensors, geospatial positioning systems, healthcare, home networking, mobile, multimedia, novel use of games technology and wireless.

The SIG focuses on two areas of concern:
@home product and service innovation – acting as a source of information for designers, manufacturers and technologists interested in the market opportunities of the digital home.

@home interoperability – identifying and monitoring of sometimes competing standards being developed to achieve interoperability of products and services in the digital home.

In addition to the website, the SIG provides a bi-monthly newsletter and hosts periodic events where members can hear firsthand the experiences of guest speakers in this field.
